I've told people that I know that this is a MUST book to buy! Some of the people I've told are family members and friends.This book is a very well written; and the story grabs you from the beginning and will not let go till the very end. I started reading "Stealing Hope" at 1:30 PM and I got through reading the last page is 7:15 PM; I couldn't put this book down till I got through reading the whole story. "Stealing Hope" keeps you riveted to your seat while you're reading it. I would buy this book and give it as a gift to either family member or to a friend whom I have recommended this book to.
I need to say I had just reread "Stealing Hope" again, (twice within this week) and it again it still is attention grabbing as it was the first time I read it.
I'm looking forward to buying this authors next book when it comes to print or when I see in the store.

If you're looking for a book that puts you in a virtual therapy session, this is NOT it. This book is about how real people move forward, in their own strange ways, with loss (in this case) being the catalyst. It's about the adventure of life and its web of interconnected stories. Temple's expressive writing captures every nuance of human interaction, and it made me smile even when the action got intense. And trust me, there's a ton of action! I don't want to spoil the story, but this book has everything from housewives to war heroes, each with their own type of stress outlet.
The characters from the first book, Discovering Grace, are more fully developed in Stealing Hope. They are people you can connect with. Carter is my favorite, seeming like I either know him from somewhere...or he's a more hard core version of myself. He drives the story and, ironically, the whole family to places they never imagined. Truly, this book will hold you to the end and leave you wanting more. While Stealing Hope is true to its purpose of dealing with loss and finding hope, it's page turning lure rests in the adventure and unexpected turns it takes. The language will make you laugh, the heart will make you cry, the story will keep you on the edge of your favorite reading chair, and the mystery will keep you guessing. Enjoy!
I was gifted this book by the author.
I've not heard of David E Temple before, so was intrigued by the write up on and Good Reads, so I accepted the offer to read it. I must emphasise that I didn't know this book was a sequel to a previous book. Maybe that's why I felt a little lost at the beginning, but around half way through I was well into it. It didn't matter much that I had not read the previous book to this by then as I was unfolding the dialogue as I went along.
Its a fast moving story. I found myself in once scene only for the next chapter to throw me back into the Pastoral family that was not at all how most come across. It was a delight to see that Christians are not always infallible and need help, and not from God at times.
The book kept my attention through out. I read this within 2 days simply because I am laid up at the moment after injuring my knee so plenty of time to read. Its over 700 pages and none of them boring, let me assure you of that!
Would I read another book by this author, yes I would.
Are there really hope for this family?
Well, as I read page after page, I realized that this author really displayed an unique writing style that should not be overlook. As I flipped from page to page, I began to "fall in love" with this story on how this family uses different ways to find hope.
I normally would not read a 500 plus page book in one sitting, but this book really inspire me to read it all on one sitting. Without giving too much away of this book, I like chapter three, whereby Uncle Carter briefly mentioned of a silent code that the family lived.
There are so much to talk on this review, what I can really say is that this book does bring the truth of human strive for finding hope in the mist of despair and helplessness. I would like to read more of this author's books in the future. You will not regret what you are going to read! Cheers.

Such a wonderful story full of adventure and mystery! It was so great to read "Stealing Hope" the sequel to "Discovering Grace" and be so enthralled in this story line that I couldn't wait to pick up this book each day and read the next chapter. Refreshing and uplifting story packed with unexpected twists and turns to keep you wanting to read more. Amazing read and am anxiously awaiting the next book!
This author's strength is his very believable characters. He keeps me engrossed in the plot to the very end. I'm looking forward to his next book and wish a movie would be made of the "Hope series.
I loved this book and didn't want it to end! It's a great sequel to the author's first book "Discovering Grace", with continuing development of the original and interesting characters. In this sequel, you'll see that life truly isn't always what it appears to be. Secrets, struggles, disappointments, coping mechanisms, surprising outcomes, unexpected answers, different paths to follow ...all keeping you eagerly turning the pages until the very end!
The book is fast- paced, descriptive, intriguing, sensitive, at times heart-wrenching, humorous and more. My favorite part is the element of suspense that the author weaves throughout the book. Some of the characters even hint about future "missions." I hope this means that there will be another book to follow...as I'm just not ready for this story to end! I want to read about exciting "missions" and to know what happens next in these characters' lives!
